Philosophical Thoughts

This one hits home to ALL Americans and is a huge debate right now.

The healthcare plan is a joke.

America began as a democracy and is turning into socialism.

Democracy - a form of government in which the supreme power is retained by the people, but which is usually exercised indirectly through a system of representation and delegated authority periodically renewed.

Socialism - a government in which the means of planning, producing, and distributing goods is controlled by a central government that theoretically seeks a more just and equitable distribution of property and labor; in actuality, most socialist governments have ended up being no more than dictatorships over workers by a ruling elite.

List of forms of government

America is going down a slippery slope. What scares me the most is that so many people don't see it. The issue with the healthcare bill is not 'making sure everyone has healthcare'. The issue is the means. The ends doesn't justify the means. What's next? Is the government going to tell us what trade we have to follow?

Please, enlighten me. Am I so misguided, I am the one with the blinders on?

Here are a few of my favorite quotes I've seen recently:

“People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.” Benjamin Franklin

"they passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is.........obese, and financed by a country that's broke. What could possibly go wrong?" -author unknown by me (if you know who wrote this, please inform me)

Blessings to all :)

I'm with you. I have no understanding. Obama says he loves our country but then wants to fundamentally change what makes it great.

A funny quote I recently heard was, "Where are Canadians going to get their healthcare now?"
