Ten on Tues.

1. We celebrated my nephew, Colin's, first birthday Sunday. It was a great time :) Blake, Sonya, and her mother did an amazing job putting it together. I took a bunch of pictures and posted a lot of them on Facebook. But I'll share a few with you :) One of them I changed due to a sad face. Let me know which one you think I changed :)

2. I've been more conscious of my position while standing. I think I'm finally able to hold the correct position until I bend at the waist. I still haven't figured that out :(

3. We need a new bed frame. Ours has been broken for quite some time now. Joseph's holding it up with a jack and some books as a precaution the jack breaks. I think a new frame will help us sleep better :(

4. Joseph has been working on getting the bees out of our backyard. It's taking a LOT longer than I think he thought it would take. Until they're gone, he won't mow the backyard. I don't want to go out their now afraid the bees will attack due to the way Joseph is going about getting rid of them. In some areas the weeds are about up to my waist. Crazy :) He did say there were a lot fewer bees than before :) Oh, they're under our shed.

5. I feel horrible for skipping church Sunday!!!! I can give all kinds of excuses but when it comes down to it, I chose to stay home and make the angel eggs I promised to bring to my nephew's birthday party instead of go to church. That is just horrible!!!! I know God will forgive me. I just have to forgive myself and make sure it doesn't happen again. On the upside Bubby was able to sleep 9-11am.

6. We had Karaoke night Saturday night :) It was a lot of fun, but we all left early. We were exhausted. It's nice being able to hang out with my girl cousin's again :)

7. Bubby and I missed our play date on Saturday with a bunch of the other cousins :( He's been going in spurts with his naps. Saturday he slept from 9am-noon. He did cut another tooth last week. I think some more might be coming in. Maybe that's why he's been sleeping more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not apposed to it for the most part.

8. I'm supposed to start working in the nursery at church once a month. I'll let you know how that goes :)

9. I post some things on FB the day they happen but want to wait until the next Tuesday to post them here :) Each week they may be added differently. But for this week they'll all be together in #10 since so much has happened :)

10. a) Bubby is climbing on things like it's going out of style. He climbs onto a bench to climb on the table. What to do?! Thankfully it's his little picnic table not our kitchen table, but that's to come soon the way he's going. I love him so much.

b) My Bubby pointed at something he wanted for the first time last week :) What a joy it is when you know you are able to give your little one something they want/need. (It was his sippy cup with water.)

c) This one's for all those mothers with more than one child. As my son get's older, he is more independent and easier to take care of. He is such a blessing. But I see now how having more than one little one would be more than twice as much "trouble". But oh the love you get in return is so worth it :) Many blessings.

It's So Hard....

It's so hard to continue to thank God for something you don't have yet.

What is your "It's so hard..."?

Philosophical Thoughts

This one hits home to ALL Americans and is a huge debate right now.

The healthcare plan is a joke.

America began as a democracy and is turning into socialism.

Democracy - a form of government in which the supreme power is retained by the people, but which is usually exercised indirectly through a system of representation and delegated authority periodically renewed.

Socialism - a government in which the means of planning, producing, and distributing goods is controlled by a central government that theoretically seeks a more just and equitable distribution of property and labor; in actuality, most socialist governments have ended up being no more than dictatorships over workers by a ruling elite.

List of forms of government

America is going down a slippery slope. What scares me the most is that so many people don't see it. The issue with the healthcare bill is not 'making sure everyone has healthcare'. The issue is the means. The ends doesn't justify the means. What's next? Is the government going to tell us what trade we have to follow?

Please, enlighten me. Am I so misguided, I am the one with the blinders on?

Here are a few of my favorite quotes I've seen recently:

“People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.” Benjamin Franklin

"they passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is.........obese, and financed by a country that's broke. What could possibly go wrong?" -author unknown by me (if you know who wrote this, please inform me)

Blessings to all :)

Ten on Tues.

1. I am not pleased with the passing of the health care bill. It'd be nice if the federal government did their job and stopped trying to control everything else. I saw this quote on FB. I just had to share :)

they passed a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that exempts themselves from it, to be signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is.........obese, and financed by a country that's broke. What could possibly go wrong?

2. Bubby is a bit stuffy from allergies :( He's doing much better though :)

3. My brother-in-law, Tony, prayed for healing for my back today :) It may not be immediate, but I'm claiming it. And I'll be doing so every day. God is good :)

4. It's another year of pregnancies :) No, I'm not counted in the number yet. Hopefully, I'll be counted in a month or so. I'm so excited!

5. I just found out another family member is switching to cloth diapers :) And some other friends who are pregnant are planning on using cloth diapers :) Sweet!

6. Joseph's dad and his wife were here for a quick visit. It was a very pleasant time. They're wondering when we'll be visiting them in Iowa. Maybe we'll do that when we visit VT :) Hopefully next year in the fall.

7. I NEED a haircut!!!!

8. Bubby enjoyed some pizza yesterday. Well, maybe I should say he enjoyed pizza toppings :) He did try to gum the crust but no luck. So he spit it out. It was cute. Too bad I didn't get a video of it.

9. I really am looking forward to the day I can clean my house again. God is good. Thank you, Lord, for healing my body.

10. Some people who love me put money together to send me on an Alaskan cruise this summer. Joseph will be taking off that week to spend time with Bubby. I'm not sure how I'll handle being away from my baby for a whole week :( I've done it with Joseph but not my with my baby. Right now, I am his world. At least he'll be with da da. I do love being a mother :)

Philosophical Thoughts

Easter is around the corner. I grew up knowing why we celebrate Easter, the resurrection of Jesus. I also grew up with Easter egg hunts and Easter baskets but knowing there is no such thing as the Easter Bunny. Every year my family gets together the day before Easter and we have a picnic which includes an Easter egg hunt. I never even thought there might be a problem with it until last Sunday when the paster talked about celebrating the true story of Easter without using the pagan symbols of bunnies and eggs.

I've always looked forward to hiding an Easter basket for my kids and having them search for eggs. I don't see what's wrong with all of that. Am I missing something?

Ten on Tues.

1. Bubby and I went camping with most of my mom's side of the family this week. We shared a ramada spot with Mom and Bob. We were and are so blessed. I couldn't do much due to my back pain. They took care of everything and more with a joyful heart :) I couldn't ask for a better Mom and Bob :)

2. Lake Alamo is closing this June or July. So my family thought we'd have one more camping trip in remembrance of Grandpa. It was a wonderful time and full of laughter, food, and stories :)

3. Joseph's dad and his wife are staying with us for a few days :) Not sure what's on the agenda while they're here, but I'll let you all know next week.

4. Bubby slept from 7pm last night until 6am this morning. He nursed for two hours with a few minutes of breaks here and there. Then he fell asleep again at 8am. He's a tired little baby. He had a blast on the camping trip but didn't get all the sleep he needs. So I guess he's making up for it now :)

5. I am seriously considering back surgery. Before I do anything, I am going to talk to our health insurance and the spinal surgeon again. I'd like to go another route but I'm not sure if the insurance will cover any of it. It's prolotherapy.

6. Easter's around the bend. It is my favorite time for celebration. Easter is always on my mind throughout the year. Jesus was born, lived, died, and rose again. He did it all for us. He would have done it if it was just for one. He loves us that much. A friend posted this on her blog. I thought it was fitting. Becareful! It is graphic. Watch before you let little eyes see it just to make sure they can handle it. Blessings :)

7. I've been posting another blog every week hoping that it will lead to a discussion. So far only one person has posted something one time. I am also posting it on Facebook and I'm getting a decent discussion there :)

8. I rearranged our kitchen/dining room last week. It has opened the rooms up SO much. I don't feel claustrophobic any more :)

9. A friend, her two boys, and Bubby and I went to the park last week. They all had so much fun playing together :) It's great being able to get together with friends and their kids :)

10. A few of us will be getting together on Saturday for a play date. I am really looking forward to it :)

Philosophical Thoughts

Proverbs 13:24 in the King James version reads

He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

I know this is a sore topic for many. I think in the US it may be split 50:50 for those for and those against spanking a child for discipline. I personally was spanked as a child. It was NOT by any means abuse. And it worked! Do I think spanking works for every child. No, but that's not the issue here.

I remember a few years back how a mother was investigated because she spanked her child in public. Some say just to spank them in private. What's that tell our children?! You can act any way you want in public. hmmm...

This issue hits home now since I have a son. He's old enough to understand some things but I'm not sure he'd understand a spanking if he got one. However, I do plan on using that method when he does understand. The younger the child the more immediate the consequence has to be. Ex. You tell your child not to cross the street and they do. Well, that deserves a spanking. Get it through their heads that crossing the street can result in pain. Better a spanking than a car accident.

So what are your thoughts?

Ten on Tues.

1. Bubby is starting to wander about the house out of eye shot of me :) This could mean I could soon begin to clean my house without him underfoot :)

2. The three of us went to a beautiful wedding at the Japanese Friendship Garden in downtown Phoenix Saturday night. I always thought pink for bridesmaids was cruel, but they looked beautiful. The pink ribbon laced down the back of the brides dress tied it all together perfectly :) It was a very nice wedding and a beautiful place for pictures.

3. Bubby is a pro at sippy cups now :)

4. I baked some sweet potatoes for Bubby and then cut them into 2"x3" pieces. He ate three of them!

5. He was so cute. Just a few minutes ago he was reaching out his pointer finger to me. I kissed it. Then he touched his lips with the same finger. He did that about three times. The fourth time though he touched his ear :) I guess he needed three kisses on his lips and one on his ear :)

6. I was smart today. I cut up his fruits and veggies during his naps. This cut out a LOT of fussing :)

7. I went to a cousin's house yesterday and met another cousin there. All of our kids played and had a blast as did the adults. I think we're planning on doing it once a week. That'll be so nice :)

8. I never understood why anyone would want an umbrella stroller until last week. I really need to get one. This way I won't have to lug out the jogging stroller for quick simple tasks to and from places.

9. My son no longer tells me when he's messed in his diaper. He wants to play too much. I'm hoping that he'll be potty trained around one year old :) I know. I know. I can always hope :)

10. Bubby has had problems with his bum. It started out with bacteria, a yeast infection, and inflamation. He started clearing up right away, but then other problems occurred. I finally went to the doctor again and they said the problem now is laundry detergent. I knew that was a possibility but I was hoping it was the tomatoes in the lasagna. Looking back on it, I'm glad it's not tomatoes. I had just washed all his diapers. So he wore disposable while I washed them all again in other detergent.

Philosophical Thoughts

Another week... Another question...

FEAR... Why does God's word say to fear Him? The one who has all the power, the one who can save or damn, that's who we should fear. God is good. He gives us free will. He's a loving God allowing us to choose our final fate. What do we need to fear? The Devil tries to put fear in us. It is the worst thing that could happen to you aside from not accepting Jesus. Fear paralyzes.

I had postpartum depression about a year ago now. The depression was caused from fear of thinking I wasn't a good enough mother. Thankfully, I put my trust in God and it left as quickly as it came. The problem was that I was so paralyzed by this fear that it took everything in me and an entire week to place my fear in God's capable hands. That only took place because I new I couldn't take care of my son on my own; I needed God's help. He truly is amazing. Life would be miserable without Him.

Luke 12:5
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.

Exodus 20:20
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

Ten on Tues.

1. Bubby is 10 months old :)

2. Bubby took his first trip to the library Monday. We borrowed 4 books that Bubby can't rip and two Signing Time dvds. The dvds are good but too old for Bubby. Hopefully they will have the Baby Signing dvds next time :)

3. Joseph and I will be seeding our back backyard soon. So Bubby will have something to play on in the near future and mommy won't be paranoid.

4. Bubby is no longer shut up in his playzone any more. His door is left open. He's not underfoot all the time now :) But he still needs mommy near.

5. We started putting plugs in the electric sockets and "locks" on the cabinets. We still have many more cabinets to "lock" up though. One cabinet will remain unlocked for Bubby to play in :)

6. I finished editing the photos Joseph took of the couple to be married in April. I had sooooooooooooooo much fun with it :) I have to use self control not to do that all day long! Of course, Bubby would really let me do that.

7. Bubby ate lasagna for the first time the other day. He loves it :)

8. My dad is now on Facebook. I love it. I feel connected to him all the time now :) We even Skyped today. YEAH!!! I can't wait until Bubby starts talking and can talk to his grandpa.

9. I recently mentioned that I am giving up sweet deserts for Lent. The first week was cake. Then last Saturday hit. My husband came home with two boxes of Girl Scout cookies. He rarely ever buys deserts much less Girl Scout cookies. He's been keeping them out in plain view and eating them in front of me, but I'm doing ok. Then today I went to meet a friend at The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I always order a carrot cake cheesecake. Obviously today I would not be. Wrong! My husband "asks me to bring one home for him. "Seriously?!" was all I could say to him :) But I brought it home. He ate it quickly. I didn't even see it after his first bite.

10. As I was nursing Bubby today I began thinking about the many seasons in my life. The first season began at conception, even though I don't remember the first couple years :) That season ended where the new one began on my brother's and my first trip back to VT when we found out my dad was getting married. The third season began when I graduated high school and lasted five years all the way through college. Crazy times. College graduation began my fourth season. I was responsible for everything even during the summers. Then I got married. Wow, was that a change! It started out rough, but I wouldn't trade those years for anything. My husband loves me. I am blessed. The sixth season started with conception of our beautiful, amazing little Bubby. This year has by far been the toughest but with the most rewards. I've had six seasons in my life thus far. How many have you had? What did you learn in each of them?
