Long Time Friend

I met up with Scott today, a friend from NAU. It was nice. I can't remember the last time just the two of us hung out. We reminisced a bit and caught up on things we don't normally get a chance to talk about when others are around. It was a very pleasant time together. It's good to have him and his family back in state : ) I can't believe Zach is going to be 13!!! His wife, Regan whom I love, and he have a little one too : ) There little one and my little one will be very close in age. We'll have to get together for play dates.

So Busy I Forgot...

I've been so busy trying to get everything ready for my substitute and then organizing my house for the baby, I forgot all about blogging. It didn't cross my mind until Betsy asked how I was doing. Oops : ) To try to catch up briefly and quickly, I am going to use the outline I see every Tuesday from Carrie.

1) I was at work until 6:30 pm Friday night trying to get everything prepared for my substitute, but alas I was unable to finish it all.

2) Saturday was a fun filled day. I got to see my family on my mom's husband's side : ) Then I went to get my haircut as my mother suggested to do before my I have my baby. I decided today or last night that I'm not fond of my hairstyle. Don't get me wrong, he did a GREAT job, just what my mother and I said to do. I just don't like it. So next time I go to him, I have other plans in mind. It's a good thing I'm not hung up on my looks : )

3) Sunday, my husband went dancing. He mentioned how he's not going to be able to go for a while after the baby's born. I briefly thought about joining him. Maybe it was more of a passing thought. Ya, that didn't happen.

4) Monday, I woke up under the weather. Go figure, my first day on maternity leave. I was able to wash dishes finally, but that took about 3 hours since I had to take a breather after every dish I washed.

5) Tuesday, I went to work to finish putting together the math centers I had yet to complete Friday. That took me about two or three times as long as it normally would, since I had to take numerous breaks to catch my breath. Once I finished those, I turned in my keys. Realize I hadn't turned in my keys in all the 10 years of working as a teacher. When I did that, it finally hit me. I was done teaching. I still have some things to do, but it feels more like volunteering rather than having a job.

6) I was able to catch up with my long time friend, Lisa, on Tuesday.

7) That afternoon, I had a doctor's appointment. I lost a couple pounds from the last time I saw my doctor. That's probably due to less swollen legs. He said I'm not open. He's hoping my cervix does something by next week. If I don't have the baby by then, we'll decide on a no later than date. I REALLY don't want to be induced, so I'll opt for the latest date. He did tell me to walk a lot and have a lot of sex. So I told Joseph that it was doctor's orders : )

8) Joseph and I went and saw "I Love You, Man" last night. I enjoyed it. I needed a comedy, although I think I laughed harder after reading Carrie's blog about a Jedi hair trick : )

9) Other than having a bowling ball in my stomach that shifts, I'm doing pretty good : )

10) The past couple days have been rough trying to organize my house. I've just been exhausted and couldn't due but a few things. I think the heat had a lot to do with that. I mentioned that to Joseph last night. He responded by reminding me of a button that control's how hot it gets in our house : ) This morning I turned "the button" until it registered about 72. I've been able to work all day : ) Well, except to take a rest here and there. My back likes to yell at me, so I'm trying to appease it : )

Alright! I think I'm caught up : )

My fault

It seems that my feet swelling was the fault of none other than me. The day before my feet swelled to their max, I ate a bunch of chips!!! I've been wearing compression hose which has helped keep the swelling down. Then today, I chose to go without those hose. Believe it or not, my feet didn't swell and they don't hurt. Go figure! So now, ham and chips are on my list of non pregnancy foods : ( I hope I don't have to add any more to that list.

Less than two weeks until my due date, but it will probably be more like three weeks until I deliver. Just a hunch. I'd still prefer May 1, but no later than May 4. Alas, I don't get to choose the date. I just have to let nature take its course.

Swelling a Little Better

My Aunt Renee and Grandma told me I should wear compression hose to help keep the swelling down. Then my mom went out and picked some up for me a few days later. I started wearing them yesterday. They are tight and difficult to put on, but they're working well. I've actually been able to wear shoes again : )

Dancing Shoes Are Hung Up for a while

As of Sunday, my feet won't fit into any shoes : ( Whether you call them Cabbage Patch, Flinstone, or Elephant feet, it all means the same thing. And that is what I have. There is nothing I can do to change it, and it's painful. If I knew everything horrible and scary that would happen to me while I was pregnant, I would still do it all over again.

I still find it weird that there is a baby growing inside of me, but I love this baby so much. I am so looking forward to holding my baby and feeling his tight grip on my fingers. No, I haven't broken down and found out what the baby's gender is; however, I still think my baby is a boy. We'll soon see : ) Oh, the heartbeat today was 140 bpm.

Cabbage Patch Feet

I was on my computer this morning when I felt a major pain in my foot. I was annoyed and wiggled my toes in hopes it would go away. Then a few seconds later, the pain was horrible. So I stretched my legs straight out to see what was bothering my feet when I noticed my feet had quickly transformed into Cabbage Patch Feet. The tops of my feet were round and puffy. The pain started to subside after having my legs stretched out for a bit, but the swelling took about two hours to go down to a less dangerous level. I then went to church but remained seated the entire time, then to AppleBees, and then a quick trip to Home Depot. When I finally got home, my Cabbage Patch Feet had returned but not to the painful extent as earlier. My days of socks and shoes are gone. Now I will have to wear flip flops or maybe slippers. The flip flops even got tight today. I have two more weeks left of work. I really hope my legs and feet hold up!
